about deesha

Deesha Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 2010 that provides accessible, affordable, quality, sustainable healthcare and education. The work was started by Mr Swapnil Arun Gawande at a very young age after the sad demise of a close friend. Having studied the segment well, he realized the need to start an intervention that can advocate for eye donation and organ donation & assist people in need of eyecare.

He started from his own district Amravati where there was a dire need for an Eye Bank, and after its success, he started another two in Yavatmal and Washim. His passion for eye care in India has been appreciated by Govt. of Maharashtra as well, which jointly launched the first helpline for Eye Donation. Deesha's Mobile Eye Care Unit is a successful model working in 10 districts reaching the unreached and is highly demanded by communities throughout the year. The foundation today has a chain of Deesha International Eye Banks, Eye Retrieval Centers, Mobile Eye Care Units, Deesha Eye Clinics & a decade-long successful track record of umpteen successful surgeries and success stories of eye recipient families.

Deesha is fortunate to have been guided by patrons from the industry. Under their guidance & many more such well-wishers, Deesha aims to scale up the programs & provide selfless service to the needy pockets of India while continuing to advocate for the cause & increase the number of eye & organ donors in parallel; to bridge the demand v/s supply gap in the country.
